Slight differences in capability get amplified in the competitive world of enterprise tech sales. Consider the difference a single degree in temperature can make. Heat water to 211 degrees Fahrenheit, and you have hot water. Get to 212 degrees, and you create steam. You have crossed a threshold and opened the door to expanded possibilities. Steam has many more uses, including propulsion.
The same goes for speed. Reaching 11.1 km/sec is extremely difficult, but less than 1% more enables you to escape Earth’s gravitational pull and obtain escape velocity.
In both examples, you either do or you don’t. The slightest improvement determines the desired outcome.
